Supporting our

GEAT has a large scale of support for medical purposes, this includes patient travel, patient escorts, accommodation, after care services.

There is a future demand for aged care facilities and sufferers from other chronic diseases. Groote Eylandt and Bickerton Island’s senior population is expected to nearly triple in the next 15 years. There is expected to be a marked increase in the number of people requiring aged and/or disability care services as well as an increase in the number of carers needing to access respite services.

A major focus is to advocate for measures to establish a substantial local workforce to cater for senior people and patients of MJD.  This also inludes increased services and support of patients of renal failure.

Workforce planning is required to build a care workforce of local community members to meet the growing demand for these services and ensure residents can get the care they require within the comfort of their communities while receiving a high standard of care.
